In a swift anti-corruption operation, the State Vigilance & Anti Corruption Bureau, Haryana arrested a cooperative society salesman for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 in Sonipat district. The action was taken by the Bureau’s Rohtak team as part of its ongoing crackdown against corruption, the agency said in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter).

The accused, Subhash (56), posted at the Cooperative Society in Bainswal Kalan village, Sonipat, was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe. A case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, at the Bureau’s Rohtak police station.

According to the complaint, the farmer sought enhancement of his MCL card loan limit from Rs 60,000. The accused allegedly demanded Rs 15,000, later settling for Rs 10,000. Acting on the complaint, a raiding team led by Inspector Jagjeet Singh trapped the accused and recovered the bribe amount.

Director Dr. A.S. Chawla reiterated the state’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption and urged citizens to report bribery through official helplines.
