Bihar’s Cooperatives Minister, Pramod Kumar, announced that a 50-member team of officials will soon visit Gujarat to study its cooperative farming model, according to media reports.
The delegation will examine how cooperative farming is being implemented and how it generates employment, with plans to replicate the model in Bihar. Kumar said the state holds strong potential for cooperative farming due to shrinking landholdings caused by generations of division. He noted that while farmers earlier owned large tracts of land, holdings are now fragmented into smaller parcels.
Cooperative farming, he said, can create local job opportunities and help curb migration by ensuring sustainable livelihoods within the state.
