The National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) organised an awareness programme on “Successful Cooperative Business Model” on Wednesday, at ITS Mohan Nagar (UG Campus), Ghaziabad. The session was conducted by Ritesh Dey, Executive Director, NCUI, and Anant Dubey, Deputy Director, NCUI.
Experts elaborated on the growing importance of the cooperative movement in India and underscored the pivotal role of youth in shaping its future. The speakers explained the process of forming and registering cooperative societies, governance frameworks, compliance norms, and how cooperatives generate sustainable employment opportunities across sectors.
Successful examples from Gujarat’s cooperative ecosystem were shared to illustrate how member-driven institutions can achieve scale and profitability while maintaining democratic functioning. The discussion also highlighted the Centre’s renewed focus on strengthening cooperatives as engines of inclusive economic growth.
Dr. Nancy Sharma, Principal of ITS, encouraged students to view cooperatives not only as socially responsible enterprises but also as promising career avenues. The interactive programme concluded with a lively question-and-answer session.
