In the latest development, Mumbai-headquartered Tirumalla Tirupati Multistate Co-operative Credit Society’s Chairman Gurmeet Singh, along with members of the senior management, met Goa Cooperation Minister Subhash Shirodkar on Friday to discuss the suspension of the society’s No Objection Certificate (NOC).
During the meeting, the delegation submitted a set of documents to the authorities and sought additional time to furnish the remaining records. The society also requested revocation of the suspended NOC, assuring full cooperation with the ongoing regulatory scrutiny.
Confirming the meeting, Minister Shirodkar told Indian Cooperative over the phone that Chairman Gurmeet Singh had visited his residence to present the society’s case.
“I have clearly instructed them to submit all details sought by the Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS) and respond to every query raised. We will not tolerate any irregularities,” the Minister said.
The Minister further revealed that the society has submitted an apology letter to the RCS, acknowledging earlier lapses and delays in compliance. He added that the RCS, Goa, will examine the documents submitted and take an appropriate view based on the findings.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the Panaji branch of the society has separately approached the RCS seeking withdrawal of the show-cause notice and restoration of its suspended NOC. In a written submission, society representative Diptesh Sawant expressed regret over procedural delays and informed that the inspection report, along with all supporting documents, has now been submitted to the authorities.
Earlier, a senior official of the society told Indian Cooperative that Chairman Gurmeet Singh had returned from Dubai on Thursday to personally address the issue. Urging depositors not to panic, the official stated that the society has deposits of around Rs 6,000 crore and advances of approximately Rs 4,000 crore, adding that its operations remain stable.
Interestingly, the society is also a member of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) Asia-Pacific and took the membership in 2019.
