Goa CM meets Tirumalla Tirupati Co-op Representatives
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said he met representatives of the Tirumalla Tirupati Multistate Co-operative Credit Society following the recent withdrawal of permission and No Objection Certificate (NOC) granted to the society to operate branches in the State. The representatives had sought time to meet the Chief Minister in the wake of the regulatory action.

Sawant said he has instructed the society’s representatives to submit their replies at the earliest to the queries raised by the Registrar of Co-operative Societies (RCS), Goa. He added that the State government would examine the response once it is submitted and would then decide on the next course of action.

The Chief Minister’s remarks come against the backdrop of the Registrar of Co-operative Societies cancelling the permissions earlier granted to the society for extending its area of operation and opening branches in Goa, following regulatory inspection and proceedings.

The State government is expected to take a further decision after reviewing the society’s explanation and the findings placed on record by the Registrar of Co-operative Societies.
