Satish Ghali and Vaibhav Sawardekar have been elected unopposed as Chairman and Vice-Chairman, respectively, of Maharashtra’s Kolhapur-based Shri Veershaiv Cooperative Bank. Their appointments have received the requisite approval from the Cooperative Election Authority on Thursday.
Elections to the 19-member Board of Directors were also held unopposed. The board comprises 16 directors from the general category, two women directors, and one director from the SC/ST category.
Notably, the elections have marked a quiet generational transition in the bank’s leadership. In line with revised governance norms that restrict long continuous tenures and mandate a cooling-off period after consecutive terms, several outgoing directors stepped aside, facilitating the entry of their children into the board.
From the general category, the elected directors include Abhijit Solapura, Rohan Rajendra Lakade, Sandeep Nashte, Shirshail Dilip Chougule, and Siddhant Budihalkar-all children of outgoing directors, alongside Chetan Desai, Prakash Dattwade, Rajendra Mall, Rajshekhar Yarate, Ravindra Banchode, Satish Ghali, Shashikala Nile, Shweta Hattarki, Sushma Tawate, Vaibhav Sawardekar, and Varun Babasaheb Patil.
In the women’s category, Alka Swami and Vidya Chandurkar, wife of outgoing director Rajesh Chandurkar, were elected unopposed. The SC/ST seat was secured by Gurudev Swami, son of outgoing director Chandrakant Swami.
