RBI imposes Penalties on three Urban Co-operative Banks

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed monetary penalties on three urban co-operative banks located in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh for non-compliance with various regulatory directions.

In the first case, the RBI has imposed a penalty of Rs 2.10 lakh on Pimpri Chinchwad Sahakari Bank Maryadit, Pimpri, Maharashtra, by an order dated January 20, 2026. The penalty has been levied for non-compliance with RBI directions on ‘Exposure Norms and Statutory / Other Restrictions’.

In another order issued on the same date, the RBI imposed a monetary penalty of Rs 8 lakh on Shri Kanyaka Nagari Sahakari Bank Ltd., Chandrapur, Maharashtra, for non-compliance with directions relating to ‘Advances to Builders/Contractors’.

Additionally, the RBI has levied a penalty of Rs 1 lakh on Sri Satya Sai Nagrik Sahakari Bank Maryadit, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, for non-compliance with regulatory directions on ‘Prudential Exposure Limits’.
