The Kerala Government has issued an order empowering the Registrar of Co-operative Societies (RCS) to relax certain procedural requirements for cooperative societies in maintaining their fluid resources.
As per the order, under Rule 63(2) of the Kerala Co-operative Societies Rules, 1969, the RCS can now modify the forms or standards prescribed under Rule 63(1), subject to the conditions outlined in the rules. This decision follows circumstances highlighted by the Registrar in a letter dated 9 January 2026.
The move aims to provide cooperative societies greater flexibility in managing their liquid assets while ensuring compliance with regulatory norms.
The order was issued by Additional Secretary Aji Philip.
