Telangana UCBs seeks support for Vision Plan for 26–27

A delegation led by G. Madana Gopala Swamy, Working President of the Telangana State Cooperative Urban Banks Federation met K. Surendra Mohan, Commissioner of Cooperation and Registrar of Cooperative Societies, on Monday at the Telangana Secretariat and requested that Urban Cooperative Banks (UCBs) be included in the Telangana State Government’s Vision Plan for 2026–27.

Vemireddy Narasimha Reddy, President, and Pramod Kumar Kedia, Vice President of the Federation, also accompanied the delegation during the interaction meeting. The Federation briefed the Commissioner on the overall performance and growth trajectory of UCBs in the state.

As on December 31, 2025, the 48 Urban Cooperative Banks operating in Telangana reported deposits of Rs 11,311 crore, advances of Rs 7,924 crore and total business of Rs 19,235 crore. During the period from April to December 2025, deposits grew by Rs 1,109 crore, advances by Rs 1,119 crore, while total business increased by Rs 2,229 crore, reflecting healthy growth in cooperative banking activity.

The Federation also highlighted expansion in outreach and employment. The number of branches increased from 321 to 377, while ATM/CDM units rose from 331 to 380. Employment in UCBs increased to 2,800 from 2,270 as on March 31, 2024.

The Commissioner advised UCBs to closely monitor profitability, NPAs and their share in all-India UCB business, encouraged engagement with NCDC, and assured that UCBs would be included in the State Vision Plan 2026–27.
