The Trinamool Congress on Sunday registered a clean sweep in the Amdabad Samabay Krishi Unnoyan Samiti elections in Nandigram Block II of West Bengal, winning all 12 seats, media reports say.
The BJP and the Left failed to secure a single seat. The victory is being attributed to the TMC’s Sebaashray initiative, under which medical camps are organised to provide healthcare at the grassroots level.
The results assume political significance as Nandigram is a key Assembly constituency ahead of the state elections later this year. Earlier this month, the BJP had won all seats in another cooperative poll in the area, highlighting the intense political contest in the region.
