Sahkar Bharati has strongly demanded the creation of a separate Cooperation Ministry in Jharkhand, stating that the cooperative sector is not receiving adequate attention as it currently functions under the Agriculture Department. The demand was raised during the two-day meeting of the Jharkhand unit of Sahkar Bharati, held at the Lalit Narayan Mithila Housing Society, Mishra Colony, Ranchi.
The meeting was inaugurated by National Co-Housing Cell Head Sujit Jha, National Executive Member Keshav Hadodia, State President Dr Amarendra Pathak and State General Secretary Dhananjay Kumar Singh. Addressing the gathering, speakers said the absence of an independent ministry has hampered the growth of cooperatives and restricted meaningful participation of youth in the sector.
A major announcement during the meeting was the availability of land in Mishra Colony for the construction of Sahkar Bharati’s provincial office, which was termed a historic milestone for the organisation. The meeting also resolved to establish a cooperative training centre in Ranchi.
In addition, Manthan Toli teams, focused working groups for grassroots outreach, policy discussion and cooperative awareness, were formed. Proposals to organise cooperative fairs across the state were also approved.
