Union Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah informed Parliament that the computerisation of Registrars of Cooperative Societies (RCS) offices across States and Union Territories is being implemented under the umbrella project “Strengthening Cooperatives Through IT Interventions” of the Ministry of Cooperation.

Replying to a question, the minister said the project aims to bring efficiency and accountability in the functioning of RCS offices, enhance ease of doing business for cooperative societies, and create a digital ecosystem that enables transparent and paperless transactions between cooperative societies and RCS offices nationwide.

Shah stated that provisions have been made under the project to provide financial assistance to States and Union Territories for procurement of hardware, development of software, and its maintenance and upgradation.

He further explained that the computerisation initiative will significantly improve the functioning and services of RCS offices. Key outcomes include complete paperless operations, IT-enabled workflows in compliance with respective State and UT Cooperative Acts and Rules, enhanced efficiency, accountability and transparency in official work, and improved analytics along with a robust Management Information System (MIS).

The minister ???????ed that these measures will modernise cooperative administration and strengthen governance through technology-driven reforms.
