The ICA has announced the forthcoming Intangible Cooperative Heritage List, expected in 2026, which will document oral traditions, customs, and community practices that express cooperative identity. This new register will complement the recently launched physical heritage map by showcasing the living cultural traditions that continue to uphold cooperative values across generations.
The initiative is also linked to the ICA’s wider cultural engagement, including its participation at UNESCO MONDIACULT 2025 in Barcelona. At the global cultural forum, the ICA co-hosted a session titled “Cooperatives in Culture for Diversity, Cultural Rights and Decent Work,” reaffirming that culture must be recognised as a core component of sustainable development.
The ICA stressed that cooperatives play an essential role in protecting cultural rights while advancing decent work and community well-being.
