Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Friday announced that the Centre will soon roll out Sahkari Insurance Services- a cooperative-based insurance platform covering health, life, agriculture and accident cover, media reports say.
He said the move aims to strengthen the cooperative sector, boost its GDP contribution and increase active membership to more than 50 crore.
At the two-day Earth Summit 2025-26 in Gandhinagar, he also highlighted efforts to scale up cooperative-driven services like Sahakar Taxi and expand technological adoption via Sahakar Sarathi, a unified digital banking platform for cooperative banks.
These steps reflect the government’s push to empower rural economy and cooperative institutions nationwide.
