Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah leads Members of Parliament on a three-day field visit to Banas Dairy in Banaskantha from December 4 to 6, 2025, under the Parliamentary Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Cooperation.
The visit has been organised to review key initiatives undertaken by the dairy giant in areas such as cooperative dairy development, circular economy, agri-value addition, livestock productivity enhancement, water conservation and rural prosperity through cooperatives.
The programme will demonstrate how the cooperative model, aligned with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and implemented by the Ministry under the leadership of Amit Shah, is contributing towards Sahakar Se Samriddhi and the creation of a Viksit Bharat. Ministers of State for Cooperation Krishan Pal Gurjar and Murlidhar Mohol, along with senior ministry officials, will take part in the deliberations.
The third meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Cooperation will be held at Banas Dairy on December 6, where a comprehensive review of cooperative dairy sector initiatives will take place. On the same day, Shah will address a public meeting in Sanadar and inaugurate the Agthala Bio-CNG and Fertilizer Plant, a project aimed at converting agricultural and dairy waste into clean energy and organic fertilizers.
The facility is expected to supplement farmers’ income and strengthen the circular economy while contributing to greener rural infrastructure. Shah will also lay the foundation stone for a modern 150 TPD Milk Powder and Baby Food Plant at Sanadar, marking a significant step towards value-added dairy processing and export readiness.
Ahead of the meeting, Members of Parliament will tour Banas Dairy’s advanced processing facilities at its Palanpur headquarters, including the cheese, UHT and protein units where high-protein lassi, buttermilk and other value-added products are manufactured using modern technology.
The delegation will further visit the Dama Semen Station and the Embryo Transfer Lab at Raiya, which play a critical role in improving cattle genetics and boosting milk productivity for member farmers.
To understand the functioning of grassroots cooperatives, MPs will visit the Sherpura Village Dairy Cooperative Society in Deesa on December 5, followed by an inspection of the Banas Soil Testing Lab at Tharad which supports scientific farming and balanced fertilizer use.
They will also tour the Amrit Sarovar at Jherda, one among 319 water bodies restored by Banas Dairy as part of its conservation mission. In addition, MPs will participate in a tree plantation ceremony in Lunava, reflecting Banas Dairy’s environmental commitment through over nine crore seed balls and saplings planted across the region.
