The Bharat Taxi app has gone live on the Google Play Store for early trials and feedback, introducing a multimodal travel feature that lets users book taxis, autos or bike rides along with Metro connections on a single interface. The iOS version will be released soon. This seamless integration aims to reduce first-mile and last-mile challenges and make urban mobility far more convenient.
The app launch marks the beginning of the soft rollout of Sahkar Taxi Cooperative in Delhi, billed as the world’s first national mobility cooperative owned entirely by drivers. With more than 51,000 registered driver-members in New Delhi and Saurashtra, it is already the world’s largest driver-owned mobility platform at the beta stage.
Sahkar Taxi’s cooperative model stands apart by giving drivers the full fare paid by customers without any commission cuts. Driver-members also gain board representation, annual dividends on their shares and a share in the cooperative’s profits, creating a fair and transparent economic structure.
Safety has been prioritised through a tie-up with Delhi Police, ensuring greater protection for both passengers and drivers during the trial phase.
With its zero-commission cooperative model, Metro-linked features and enhanced safety framework, Sahkar Taxi aims to offer a credible new alternative in India’s ride-hailing sector.
