Police in Udupi have arrested Suresh Bhat, the in-charge manager of the Kavadi branch of Shiriyara Seva Cooperative Society, for allegedly misappropriating Rs 1.70 crore, media reports say.
Bhat, a resident of Jaanuvaarakatte in Heggunje, had gone missing after reportedly siphoning the funds along with junior clerk Harish Kulal.
Acting on credible inputs, a team led by Udupi police officials apprehended him. The case was registered at Kota Police Station.
Meanwhile, Kulal is still on the run, and efforts to locate him continue as the investigation progresses.
