The Sikkim State Cooperative Union (SICUN) is set to celebrate the 72nd All India Cooperative Week from November 14 to 20, 2025, with state-wide events reflecting the national theme-“Cooperatives as Vehicles for Atmanirbhar Bharat.”
At a preparatory meeting chaired by Dr. Mangal Jit Rai, Chairman of SICUN, officials reviewed plans to replicate last year’s grand state-wide celebration. The week-long event, organised in coordination with the Cooperation Department and apex cooperative bodies, will highlight the cooperative movement’s contribution to India’s self-reliance and socio-economic growth.
The celebration schedule will span all six districts of Sikkim-Namchi (Nov 14), Gyalzing (Nov 15), Soreng (Nov 16), Mangan (Nov 17), Gangtok (Nov 18), Pakyong (Nov 19), and conclude with a grand finale at the SICUN Auditorium on November 20.
Each day will focus on specific sub-themes such as digitalisation, cooperative education, rural development, youth and women empowerment, expansion into emerging sectors like tourism and green energy, and innovative business models for global competitiveness.
The All India Cooperative Week, initiated by the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) in 1951, honours the legacy of cooperative pioneers like Vaikunth Bhai Mehta, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi, and Sardar Patel. SICUN reaffirmed its commitment to spreading cooperative awareness and strengthening Sikkim’s contribution to the national cooperative movement.
