Assam: RCS urges FPOs to fast-track equity grant claims
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

In a review meeting, Narayan Konwar, RCS of Assam, convened officials from NCDC, NABARD, 25 farmer-producer organisations (FPOs) and the Assam Cooperative Apex Bank to assess progress under the “10,000 FPO Scheme”. He emphasised that FPOs must immediately claim the available equity grants and complete their audits so that project implementation can move at a faster pace.

Konwar urged the FPOs to prioritise the audit process, noting that many key deliverables remained pending and that grant disbursements were contingent on full compliance. The nurture of cooperative institutions and producer collectives is central to Assam’s rural strategy, and this scheme aims to boost farmer-led enterprise.

He also asked the implementing agencies from NCDC and NABARD to provide closer monitoring support and hand-holding to the FPOs, underscoring that delay in audit completion and claim filing was hampering rollout in several districts. The meeting reflected a collaborative push to operationalise the flagship initiative with speed and transparency.
