Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with farmers during a special Krishi programme held in the national capital, where Amreli (Gujarat) cooperator Bhavana Gondaliya drew attention with her inspiring journey of collective farming success.

Introducing herself, Gondaliya shared that her Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) in Dhari, Amreli district, has brought together 1,700 farmers cultivating a total of 1,500 acres of land. She proudly informed the Prime Minister that her FPO has been consistently giving a 20% dividend to its members for the last four years, a feat that left the audience and the Prime Minister impressed.

When the Prime Minister inquired whether the FPO members grow different crops or follow a common plan, Bhavna explained that their FPO also undertakes MSP-related activities and works closely under the Government of India’s Guarantee Scheme.

Highlighting a key moment in their growth, she said, “When our FPO faced a shortage of funds, we received Rs 2 crore without any collateral under the government’s guarantee scheme. That support became a major milestone in our success.”

Her story stood out as a shining example of how FPOs, with the support of government initiatives, are empowering farmers, boosting rural incomes, and promoting collective growth in India’s agricultural landscape.
