Union Minister Amit Shah highlighted the pivotal role of cooperative agencies such as the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) and the National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation of India Limited (NCCF) in empowering farmers and strengthening rural economies.
Speaking at the inauguration of India’s first cooperative multi-feed Compressed Biogas plant, Shah said these organizations will directly procure pulses like arhar, urad, and masoor at 100% MSP from registered farmers, ensuring stable incomes and market access.
He added that over six years, the government’s “Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses” will leverage these cooperatives to establish 1,000 processing units and distribute 38 lakh high-quality seed kits. By linking procurement, marketing, and processing, NAFED and NCCF are reinforcing the cooperative framework as a cornerstone of India’s agricultural self-reliance strategy.
