Janjgir-Champa police have registered an FIR against Congress MLA Baleshwar Sahu and associate Gautam Rathore for alleged cheating and forgery linked to the Bamhani Deeh Cooperative Society, media reports say.
The case, filed under IPC Sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 34, pertains to Sahu’s tenure as society manager between 2015 and 2020. Complainant Rajkumar Sharma accused the duo of persuading him to obtain a Kisan Credit Card loan against his 50-acre land, taking his blank cheque and opening an HDFC Bank account in his name.
They allegedly siphoned Rs 42.78 lakh by forging signatures and thumb impressions of Sharma and his family. Police have begun investigation as political tensions rise.
