The Bihar government inaugurated a new vegetable cooperative centre in Bikram block, Patna, at a cost of Rs 96 lakh, media outlets report.
Spread over 10,000 sq ft, the facility includes a 10-tonne cold storage, 20-tonne warehouse, vegetable collection centre, and a shed for sorting, grading, and packaging.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and Cooperative Minister Dr Prem Kumar emphasized the government’s plan to establish such centres in all 534 blocks within two years.
The initiative aims to reduce spoilage, ensure fair prices, enable exports from Bihta Airport, and strengthen farmers’ income and rural cooperatives across Bihar.
