In view of the International Year of Cooperatives, the Maharashtra government has outlined initiatives to strengthen the cooperative movement, particularly in rural areas.
Cooperation Minister Babasaheb Patil on Wednesday directed that training camps be organized through the Maharashtra State Cooperative Union to build capacity and expand awareness of cooperative practices among rural communities.
He emphasized that the cooperative sector plays a crucial role in improving farmers’ livelihoods, and raising awareness is equally important.
Minister Patil highlighted that proper guidance for officials and staff of rural cooperative societies would enhance the effectiveness of the movement.
To this end, funds for conducting the training camps will be made available through the Maharashtra State Cooperative Union. He further instructed the Cooperation Commissioner to submit detailed proposals to the government to ensure timely implementation.
The initiative is expected to empower cooperative institutions, improve service delivery to farmers and members, and give new momentum to the rural cooperative movement in the state.
