The Cooperation Department, Mangan, Sikkim successfully organized a one-day training and refresher programme for Cooperative Inspectors, Assistant Cooperative Inspectors, and Project Assistants at the DAC Conference Hall on Tuesday.
The event was held as part of the celebrations of the International Year of Cooperatives and the 50th year of Sikkim’s statehood.
The programme began with a welcome address by Cooperative Inspector Miss Paden Bhutia, who also presented an overview of cooperatives, including their definition, principles, departmental hierarchy, and bye-laws.
Audit Officer Pravesh Bhujel explained bookkeeping essentials, focusing on day-end processes and account management. ARCS Shri Reekpa Hissey spoke on cooperative functioning, board meetings, and administrative procedures, while also addressing the preparation of applications and performance reports.
ARCS Pema Wangchuk highlighted central government schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Vikas Yojana and PM Kisan Samriddhi Yojana. DRCS Atish Rai elaborated on the Sikkim Cooperative Societies Act, 1978, and the Rules, 1981. SISCO Bank Manager, Ujal Sharma, outlined the role of banks in cooperatives, emphasizing credit linkage, Kisan Credit Cards, and loan facilities.
The programme concluded with an address by Joint Registrar Ratan Hang Subba, followed by an evaluation session and a vote of thanks by CI Chodup Lachungpa.
