Amul Topical celebrated the success of Anuparna Roy, who etched her name in cinematic history by becoming the first Indian filmmaker to win the Best Director award in the Orizzonti section at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival.
With the tagline “Hip Hip Huroy! Amul always a winner,” the topical features her in a saree holding the trophy. Her debut feature, Songs of Forgotten Trees, triumphed over 18 international entries, earning acclaim for its poignant portrayal of two migrant women navigating life in Mumbai.
Raised in Purulia, West Bengal, Roy transitioned from a career in IT to filmmaking, drawing inspiration from her roots and personal experiences.
Songs of Forgotten Trees was executive produced by Anurag Kashyap and stars Naaz Shaikh and Sumi Baghel.
