In a significant step towards expanding customer services, the Bihar State Cooperative Bank Ltd. (BSCB) has entered into a formal agreement with SBI General Insurance Company Ltd. (SBI GIC) to provide a wide range of insurance services directly through its bank branches.
The agreement was signed on Tuesday in Patna in the presence of Bihar’s Minister of Cooperation, Dr. Prem Kumar. This initiative follows registration approval from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) and is expected to make insurance services more accessible to cooperative bank customers across the state.
On the occasion, Cooperation Department Secretary Dharmendra Singh, Registrar of Cooperative Societies Anshul Agarwal, and other senior officials were also present.
With this agreement, BSCB has positioned itself as not just a banking institution but also a comprehensive financial service provider, reflecting the growing role of cooperative banks in delivering social security and financial resilience to communities.
