The Office of the Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CRCS) has issued a notice to the Board of Directors of Shri Mahankali Sahakari Shakhar Karkhana Ltd., Rajarambapu Nagar, Kavathemahankal, Sangli, Maharashtra, over allegations of default and non-compliance with provisions of the Multi-State Cooperative Societies (MSCS) Act, 2002.
The action follows a complaint filed on February 24, 2025, by Shri Milind Shivputra Kore of Sangli, alleging that members of the sugar factory’s board had been declared defaulters by Sangli District Central Cooperative Bank and Nanasaheb Sagare Workers Cooperative Society. The complaint also claimed that the present board is in violation of Section 43 of the MSCS Act.
As per records, the society has not filed its mandatory annual returns under Section 120 of the MSCS Act, 2002, on the CRCS portal. Despite a letter dated May 21, 2025, and subsequent reminders on July 9 and August 1, the society has not furnished any reply.
Citing Section 43(2) of the MSCS Act, the CRCS office has directed all members of the existing board to submit an explanation within 15 days on why they should not be disqualified from contesting elections. Failure to respond within the stipulated period will invite further action under the provisions of the Act.
