A total of 22 candidates remain in the contest for nine of the 12 seats on the Board of Directors of the Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union (Amul Dairy), with elections scheduled for September 10.
Sixteen nominations were withdrawn on the last day, paving the way for the BJP to win uncontested in Thasra, Balasinor, Memdavad and Virpur.
The remaining seats are witnessing a BJP-Congress faceoff, with Congress-backed candidates contesting four seats in Vibhag-I and one in Vibhag-II.
Initially, 53 candidates had filed nominations across Anand, Kheda and Mahisagar districts, reflecting the high-stakes nature of the Amul board elections.
