The long wait is finally over for the country’s second-largest fertilizer cooperative, Krishak Bharati Cooperative Ltd. (Kribhco). The Cooperative Election Authority has officially cleared the results of the elections for the Board of Directors, bringing an end to the suspense that had surrounded the process for several months. With this approval, all 11 seats on the Board have been filled unopposed.
It may be recalled that the elections were conducted in January 2025, but the announcement of results was delayed due to the Delhi Assembly poll preparations. On Friday, the authority finally gave its nod, allowing the newly elected board members to formally assume their roles.
From the apex marketing federation constituency, four leaders have been elected unopposed: R. Rajendra from the Karnataka State Cooperative Marketing Federation, Bipin Patel from the Gujarat State Cooperative Marketing Federation, Bijendra Singh from the Delhi State Cooperative Marketing and Supply Federation, and Smt. Kabita Manjari from the Odisha State Cooperative Marketing Federation.
From Constituency-V, which includes delegates of member-societies holding shares less than Rs 5 lakh from Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Telangana, Bhikhabhai Patel has been elected.
From Constituency-VI, covering Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, Dr. Chandra Pal Singh Yadav has secured his place.
In the constituencies comprising member-societies holding shares of Rs 5 lakh and above but less than Rs 1 crore, the winners include: Maganbhai Patel from Gujarat (Constituency-VII), V. Sudharkar Chowdary representing Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana (Constituency-VIII), Bhawnwar Singh Shekhawat representing Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal (Constituency-IX), and Ajay Rai representing Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh (Constituency-X).
From Constituency-XI, which represents member-societies holding shares of Rs 1 crore and above across all states, Shilpi Arora has been elected unopposed. With this, the 11-member board of Kribhco stands complete.
The Election Authority has further announced that the election of the Chairman and Vice-Chairman will take place on September 16, 2025.
The clearance of the results comes at a very crucial juncture as Kribhco prepares to hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) next month.
The AGM is expected to review the cooperative’s performance, future strategy, and expansion plans in the fertilizer sector. The presence of a duly approved board will allow Kribhco to proceed with its agenda without any uncertainty.
Interestingly, this time the outgoing Chairman Dr. Chandra Pal Singh Yadav, a veteran leader in the cooperative sector, may not continue as Chairman. The Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act bars any individual from holding the position of Chairman for two consecutive terms.
However, sources indicate that the new Chairman could be of Dr. Yadav’s choice, while he himself may take over as Vice-Chairman, ensuring continuity and stability in leadership.
