Union Ministry of Cooperation Secretary, Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani, has praised Rajasthan for its remarkable performance in implementing initiatives under the ‘Sahkar Se Samriddhi’ programme.
Reviewing progress through a video conference on Tuesday, Dr. Bhutani highlighted the state’s achievements in forming new Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and introducing innovations that could serve as models for other states.
He instructed that completed warehouses be inaugurated at the earliest, while proposals for hiring assurance of the remaining ones be expedited with NAFED and NCCF. He also directed that all functional urban cooperative banks in the state be onboarded with the National Urban Cooperative Finance and Development Corporation (NUCFDC).
During the review, Principal Government Secretary and Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Smt. Manju Rajpal, informed that under the World’s Largest Grain Storage Plan, 76 of the 100 warehouses sanctioned for FY 2024–25 have been completed, with the rest under construction.
For FY 2025–26, approvals have already been issued for 56 of the 100 announced warehouses. So far, NAFED has assured hiring of 68 warehouses and NCCF for 49, while District Collectors are facilitating land allocation for PACS without available land.
She further reported rapid progress in PACS computerization, resolution of data gaps in audits, and onboarding of 11 out of 34 urban cooperative banks under Sahkar se Sahkar. Rajasthan also leads nationally in membership of the Indian Seed Cooperative Ltd., with efforts underway to extend NCOL and NCEL memberships to all PACS.
