The government has laid the foundation for Agricultural Revolution 4.0 by integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and IoT-based systems to boost productivity, sustainability, and farmer welfare. A key initiative is ‘Kisan e-Mitra’, an AI-powered chatbot assisting farmers in 11 languages, with over 95 lakh queries handled so far.
The National Pest Surveillance System uses AI/ML to detect pest threats across 61 crops and 400 pest types, enabling timely action. Over 10,000 extension workers and farmers use this tool by uploading pest images for early intervention. Satellite data, weather, and soil moisture are also being used for crop health monitoring.
Under the Digital Agriculture Mission, states receive funding for AI and IoT-driven projects. Soil Health Cards help assess fertility conditions with lab analysis of 12 key soil parameters.
The Per Drop More Crop scheme promotes drip and sprinkler irrigation, with financial support up to 55% for small farmers. Minister Ramnath Thakur shared this in Rajya Sabha.
