The National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI)’s GCP Division organized a webinar on the salient features of the MSCS (Amendment) Act & Rules 2023 last week for the CEOs/Cooperative Instructors of State Cooperative Unions and Principals/Faculty members of Junior Cooperative Training Centres.
The webinar saw active participation and discussions from over 150 cooperative instructors, CEOs, principals, and faculty members from across India.
Smt. Sandhya Kapoor, Director, NCUI, in her introductory remarks, welcomed the panellists as well as all the participants who joined the webinar. She also outlined the objectives of the webinar and introduced the panellists who were scheduled to make their presentations.
Dr. Sudhir Mahajan, IAS (Retd.), Chief Executive, NCUI, in his opening remarks, highlighted the MSCS (Amendment) Act & Rules 2023 and their significance. He also briefed the participants about the new initiatives taken by the Ministry of Cooperation to strengthen the cooperative movement in the country.
Ved Prakash Setia, Executive Director, NCUI, gave a detailed presentation on the salient features of the MSCS (Amendment) Act & Rules 2023. He also elaborated on the important modifications made to the MSCS Act & Rules.
Dr. K. Elumalai, Advocate, Supreme Court of India, and former Professor of VAMNICOM, Pune, made a presentation on the Role and Powers of the Cooperative Ombudsman, as well as the Rights of Members and Governance. He provided expert legal insights, particularly on grievance redressal mechanisms under the amended Act.
An interactive question & answer session followed the presentations, during which many participants raised queries about the MSCS (Amendment) Act & Rules, which were addressed by the distinguished panellists.
A special highlight of the event was the Online Quiz on the Fundamentals of Cooperatives conducted at the end of the session, making the proceedings not just informative but also engaging and interactive, thereby reinforcing key learnings.
Ms. Sandhya Kapoor, Director, NCUI, moderated the webinar and ensured a smooth flow and active engagement throughout the event.
