In a bid to empower women entrepreneurs, Karnataka based Sree Thyagaraja Co-operative Bank has recently launched collateral-free loans of up to Rs 5 lakh for women-led enterprises.

The initiative was unveiled at a loan distribution programme organized at NR Colony in Bengaluru.

Speaking on the occasion, Karnataka State Cooperative Apex Bank CEO C.N. Devaraj said, “Banks are offering collateral-free loans to women due to the strong belief that they repay on time. Utilize this support wisely and productively.”

He emphasized that the aim is to make women self-reliant through self-employment, adding, “Your success not only ensures personal growth but also contributes to the development of the nation. Timely loan repayment is essential.”

Noted TV anchor Smitha Ranganath encouraged women to view the loans not merely as financial assistance but as a stepping stone toward entrepreneurship. “Just as you manage your homes efficiently, I trust you’ll manage your businesses with the same discipline,” she said.

Dr. M.R. Venkatesh, Chairman of Sree Thyagaraja Co-operative Bank, remarked, “We provide collateral-free loans ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh to support women-led enterprises. When a woman is empowered, an entire family progresses. Our bank is proud to be financially sound and well-managed.”

The event witnessed the participation of board members and several women beneficiaries.
