The Union Cabinet has approved the “Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana,” a six-year initiative starting 2025–26 to boost agriculture and allied sectors across 100 selected districts.
Drawing from NITI Aayog’s Aspirational Districts Programme, the scheme will focus on enhancing productivity, crop diversification, sustainable farming, post-harvest infrastructure, irrigation, and credit access.
Districts will be chosen based on low productivity, low cropping intensity, and limited credit disbursement, with at least one district from each state. Implementation will involve convergence of 36 existing schemes across 11 Central Ministries, as well as state and private partnerships.
District-level plans will be framed by committees including progressive farmers, aligned to national priorities like natural farming, soil and water conservation, and self-sufficiency.
Progress will be tracked on 117 indicators via a dashboard, with regular reviews by NITI Aayog and Central Nodal Officers. The scheme aims to raise agricultural output, livelihoods, and national self-reliance.
