In a move aimed at enhancing rural livelihoods, Union Minister Amit Shah announced that cow dung from families involved in cooperative dairies will soon be processed into bio-manure and biogas.
During ‘Sahkar Samvad’ with women cooperative leaders, Shah revealed that in the coming years, 400 out of every 500 families in a village producing milk will be connected to cooperative systems.
These cooperatives will take responsibility not only for milk collection but also for managing dung and animal health. Small-scale pilots across India have already shown success in using cow dung for organic inputs and fuel.
The Ministry of Cooperation is compiling these findings to be shared nationwide. This initiative will not only increase household income but also promote clean energy and sustainable agriculture.
It also marks a significant step in women-led cooperative action, leveraging local resources for both ecological and economic benefits.
