Odisha Cooperative Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta, after meeting Union Minister Amit Shah, unveiled a rural-focused cooperative policy centered on service, not profit.
A cooperative society will be set up in every Panchayat, offering LPG distribution, medical shops, petrol pumps, Jan Seva Kendras, dairy services, and banking. The plan aims to decentralize essential services, ensuring people need not travel far for basic needs.
The government sees cooperatives as engines of rural development, enhancing healthcare, finance, and employment. Samanta called it a grassroots revolution in service delivery and community empowerment across Odisha.
