Karnataka Cooperation Minister K. N. Rajanna chaired a high-level meeting in the committee room of the Karnataka Legislature in Bengaluru on Thursday to deliberate on issues concerning the Bidar Cooperative Sugar Factory and the welfare of sugarcane farmers in the district.

A key agenda item was the proposal to lease the factory under the LROT (Long-Term Lease) model.

The meeting was attended by Forest, Ecology, and Environment Minister Eshwar Khandre; Minister for Textiles, Sugarcane Development & Sugar, and Agricultural Marketing Shivanand Patil; and Minister for Urban Development and Haj, Rahim Khan. These ministers actively engaged in discussions related to the operations and long-term sustainability of the sugar factory.

Also present were MLAs from Bidar district; T.H.M. Kumar, Registrar of Cooperative Societies; Devaraj, Managing Director of Apex Bank; Deputy Commissioners of Bidar; presidents of cooperative societies; local leaders; and other concerned officials.

The deliberations focused on protecting the interests of farmers, ensuring the efficient functioning of the sugar mill, and taking concrete steps for the comprehensive development of the sugarcane sector in Bidar.
