Suresh Asaram Jadhav, a 46-year-old farmer from Khalegaon, died by suicide outside the Gevrai branch of Chhatrapati Multistate Co-operative Society early on June 18, media reports say.
Jadhav had deposited Rs 11.5 lakh in 2020 for his children’s education but recovered only Rs 2.5 lakh despite repeated follow-ups. His wife said he had earlier threatened suicide, prompting a partial payment and false assurances from Chairman Santosh Bhandari.
After being insulted by the branch manager on June 17, Jadhav was found hanging hours later. Police have filed an abetment case against Bhandari, though no arrests have been made yet.
