Residents of cooperative housing societies across Maharashtra have issued a strong appeal to the state government, urging immediate and unconditional execution of conveyance, the legal transfer of land and building ownership in favor of registered societies.
In a formal representation addressed to the State Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, Minister for Cooperation, Chief Secretary, and Secretary of the Cooperation Department, the residents highlighted the long-pending issue of conveyance that has left thousands of families in legal limbo despite living in their homes for years.
The plea outlines how the delay in executing conveyance deeds has led to serious consequences, including financial exploitation, mental stress, and violation of ownership rights. Many societies are unable to undertake essential redevelopment work or access government benefits due to lack of legal title.
The residents have called on the government to take the following urgent actions, immediate execution of conveyance through a streamlined and accountable mechanism; protection of the rights of society members; and removal of procedural bottlenecks that are often exploited by brokers and intermediaries.
“This delay is not just bureaucratic; it is a denial of justice,” said one of the society representatives. “We request the Hon’ble authorities to intervene and uphold the spirit of cooperative housing and urban justice.”
The growing frustration among cooperative society members has led to a unified call to action: “Save the members- End the injustice-Stop the exploitation.” Citizens now await a decisive response from the government that could bring long-overdue relief and restore faith in the housing cooperative system.
