A high-level review meeting was convened under the joint chairmanship of Union Ministers of State for Cooperation, Krishan Pal Gurjar and Murlidhar Mohol, on Wednesday to assess the progress made on earlier directives and to chart the way forward on key issues related to media outreach, publications, and publicity strategies of the Ministry of Cooperation and national-level cooperative federations.

Sharing insights from the meeting on social media, Union Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol wrote, “Under the visionary guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the able leadership of Hon’ble Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah, the Ministry is making concerted efforts to strengthen the cooperative movement in India, with the aim of empowering farmers in rural areas and ensuring their overall welfare.”

The meeting included a detailed review of action taken reports submitted by various cooperative bodies and deliberated on outreach strategies, including the dissemination of relevant information in regional languages to improve accessibility and inclusivity.

Officials were instructed to develop a structured roadmap in view of the International Year of Cooperatives 2025, with clear targets and timelines to ensure effective and sustained implementation of communication initiatives.

Special emphasis was placed on strengthening communication efforts and public engagement through strategic media planning. The Ministers underscored the need for a unified and coordinated approach to amplify the visibility of the Ministry’s initiatives and ensure their benefits reach grassroots stakeholders.

Participants were also directed to expand the scope of their social media outreach to include cooperative members, societies, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders, thereby fostering a more connected and informed cooperative ecosystem.

The meeting highlighted the importance of timely and efficient dissemination of schemes, updates, and achievements, along with maintaining consistent branding and unified messaging across all platforms. The use of regional languages was strongly recommended to ensure inclusivity and maximize outreach impact.

Reaffirming its commitment to a transparent, participatory, and inclusive cooperative framework, the Ministry aims to leverage modern communication tools to drive greater awareness, engagement, and public trust in the cooperative movement across the country.

Last month in May, Joint Secretary Anand Kumar Jha of the Union Ministry of Cooperation chaired a follow-up meeting in New Delhi with representatives of all National Cooperative Federations to review progress on key action points discussed earlier. The session built on the March 18, 2025, meeting led by Ministers of State, which stressed enhancing cooperative sector publications and social media presence.

The meeting assessed the implementation of previous directives and urged federations to boost efforts in showcasing cooperative achievements. The discussion focused on building stronger digital and print communication strategies aligned with the Government’s “Sahakar se Samriddhi” vision. Emphasis was laid on increasing public engagement through compelling success stories and impactful grassroots narratives.

The meeting was attended by Kapil Meena, Director at the Ministry of Cooperation, along with senior officials and federation representatives.
