In a spirited lead-up to the International Year of Co-operation-2025, the Karnataka State Co-operative Federation, in collaboration with the Bangalore District Co-operative Union, organized a “Swachhata Abhiyan” (Cleanliness Drive) at Kallabalu Gram Panchayat, located in Jigani Hobli of Anekal Taluk last week.

Themed “Cooperatives Can Build a Better World”, the event aimed to underline the critical role of cooperative societies in promoting community-driven cleanliness, sustainability, and social responsibility. The campaign brought together members of the cooperative movement and local governance to inspire grassroots-level participation in nation-building initiatives.

The programme was inaugurated by Manjunath, President of the Bangalore District Co-operative Union. He emphasized the importance of cleanliness in both personal and public spaces and highlighted how cooperatives, with their deep rural presence and people-centric approach, can lead such efforts effectively.

Prominent attendees included Dr. M. R. Venkatesh, Director, and Venkateshaiah, along with the President of Kallabalu Gram Panchayat, board directors, local leaders, and staff from various cooperative institutions.

The event concluded with a mass cleanliness drive in the village, symbolizing the cooperative sector’s commitment to a cleaner, greener, and more united India.
