Vijay Singh, secretary of Nangal Khurd Cooperative Society in Haroli, Una (Himachal Pradesh), has been booked for allegedly embezzling Rs 9 crore.
The scam surfaced in August 2024 after an audit revealed major financial irregularities. Singh admitted the fraud and repeatedly sought time to repay the amount, but failed to meet the March 10 deadline.
A formal case was lodged following a complaint by Inspector Umesh Kumar Sharma. Singh has neither repaid the funds nor cooperated with the inquiry.
A two-member committee had earlier suspended him and assigned oversight to district officials. Investigation is ongoing.
