Preparations for the upcoming election to the Board of ICA is going on in full swing with the start of on-line booking for participating in the General Assembly. The General Assembly is to take place in Cape Town in November.

One can reserve his place at the ICA’s first General Assembly in Africa — and for those organisations booking more than ten full fee places, the eleventh delegate’s registration fee will be waived, read a mail from ICA President Dame Paulin Green.

The election of the board members will also take place at the General Assembly in Cape Town in November.

Earlier ICA invited Board nomination form. Only member organisations of the ICA can nominate candidates. Furthermore, only individuals accredited to a member organisation in good standing are permitted to serve on the Board.

Only one at-large Board member is permitted per country. The same country can submit more than one at-large nominee, but only the nominee who receives the highest number of votes would be eligible to serve.

Earlier, IFFCO from India was on ICA board but the untimely demise of its Chairman robbed India of the prestigious post.

As required by the ICA’s Bylaws, Board members serve a four-year term and can stand for re-election. Board members attend up to three meetings per year, held in various regions of the world. The positions are self-financing, which means that either the Board member or his or her organisation must cover the costs of attending the meetings.

ICA’s board is currently comprised of the President, four Vice Presidents, two representatives of the global sectoral organisations, one youth representative and 15 other at-large members.
