The Union Territory administration of Ladakh has announced plans to celebrate the International Year of Cooperatives in the upcoming financial year with a series of activities and initiatives aimed at reviving the cooperative sector.
Chief Secretary Dr. Pawan Kotwal officially launched the annual activity calendar for the celebrations and directed officials to use the International Year of Cooperatives logo and commemorative stamp in official correspondence.
As part of the pre-celebration efforts, the Cooperative Department has initiated key measures, including the computerization of Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS), establishment of PACS-based cooperatives for dairy and fisheries farmers, and regularization of defunct PACS.
Efforts are also underway to convert PACS into Multi-Purpose Primary Agricultural Credit Societies, further strengthening Ladakh’s cooperative sector.
