Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah informed the Rajya Sabha that the Government of India is making significant progress in the Project for Computerization of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), with a total of 40,050 PACS (59%) now live on the ERP system.
As part of this initiative, 67,930 PACS from 30 States and Union Territories have been sanctioned for computerization, with Rs 741.34 crore already released as the Government of India’s share to the respective States and UTs. As of January 27, 2025, hardware has been delivered to 60,382 PACS, covering 89% of the target, while 50,455 PACS (74%) have been onboarded onto the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
The project, which has a total financial outlay of Rs 2,516 crore, including Rs 1,528 crore from the central government, aims to integrate all functional PACS onto a common ERP-based national software, linking them with NABARD through State Cooperative Banks (StCBs) and District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs).
The ERP software enables PACS to manage both credit and non-credit activities efficiently while offering state-specific customizations.
With the project’s sunset date set for March 31, 2027, the government is steadily working towards ensuring full digitization of PACS, marking a transformational shift in the cooperative banking sector.
