The National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) celebrated the New Year with a grand “Sneh Milan” gathering at its headquarters in the capital. The event was graced by NCUI President Dileep Sanghani, who addressed the audience and extended heartfelt New Year wishes to all.
During his speech, Shri Sanghani emphasized the United Nations’ declaration of 2025 as the International Year of Cooperatives. He encouraged stakeholders to strengthen cooperative initiatives in villages across India, aligning with the vision to make cooperatives a vital force for social and economic transformation.
Sanghani highlighted the remarkable strides made by India’s cooperative movement in recent years under the leadership of Union Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah. He pointed out key initiatives, including the establishment of three new multi-state cooperative societies—NCEL, BBSSL, and NCOL—and tax relief measures aimed at revitalizing cooperative sugar mills and improving banking systems.
He further acknowledged over 55 innovative projects launched by the Ministry of Cooperation, aimed at modernizing and empowering cooperatives. These include strengthening primary cooperative societies, integrating cooperatives into the Government e-Marketplace (GeM), and expanding the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC).
“2025 offers us an opportunity to reflect on our achievements and set ambitious goals for the future,” Shri Sanghani remarked, urging leaders, members, and stakeholders to collaborate for the greater good of the movement.
NCUI, as the apex body of the Indian cooperative movement, has been a pioneer in implementing the Ministry’s initiatives. Over the past year, the organization has made significant progress in fostering cooperative education and training. Through its National Centre for Cooperative Education (NCCE), NCUI organized comprehensive training programs covering diverse cooperative sectors.
The training efforts extended to rural areas and women-led initiatives, empowering participants with skills and knowledge. Additionally, NCUI’s “Coop Connect” department focused on career opportunities and entrepreneurship for students in schools, colleges, and universities, enhancing youth engagement in cooperatives.
With a commitment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Prosperity through Cooperation,” NCUI continues to advance the cooperative movement by aligning its strategies with modern challenges and opportunities.
The event concluded with renewed determination to expand the cooperative movement’s reach and impact, fostering inclusivity and economic resilience in India’s rural landscape.
