The Indian Society for Studies in Co-operation (ISSC), Pune, and Karnataka State Souharda Federal Cooperative Ltd (KSSFCL), Bengaluru, in collaboration with Karnataka State Rural Development and Panchayati Raj University (KSRDPR University), Gadag, and Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management (VAMNICOM), Pune, organized the 39th Annual National Research Conference on the theme “Co-operative Business Model for Resilience and Sustainability” on 3rd and 4th January 2025 at KSRDPR University, Gadag, Karnataka. The event was held under the presidentship of G.H. Amin, Chairman of ISSC, Pune.
During the event, “Sahkari Karmveer” G.H. Amin, Chairman of ISSC, Pune, and Former President of the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), New Delhi, was felicitated by H.K. Patil. The Minister presented Amin with a shawl, a traditional Karnataki garland, and Gandhiji’s Charkha in the presence of other esteemed dignitaries.
G.H. Amin’s invaluable contributions to the cooperative sector were highlighted during the felicitation. His dedication to promoting cooperative education and training programs has empowered countless individuals, particularly women and youth. The ceremony honored his tireless efforts in advancing the cooperative movement and inspiring future generations to build a better world through cooperation.
On this occasion, other distinguished cooperators were also felicitated, including Shri K.L. Patil, Chairman of The Reddy Co-operative Bank Ltd, Dharwad, and recipient of the SAHKAR RATNA Award; Shri Guranna Balaganur, Chairman of PLD Bank, Gadag; Shri R.M. Hegde, Balesara, Chairman of TMS, Siddhapur; and Shri Mohan Koti, Chairman of Merchant Liberal Co-operative Bank, Gadag.
The conference was inaugurated by H.K. Patil and those present included Amin, A.R. Prasanna Kumar, Vice President of KSSFCL; Guranna Balaganur, Chairman of PLD Bank, Gadag; Sharanagouda G. Patil, MD of KSSFCL; Yashwanta Dongre, VC of Chaitanya University ; Prof. Dr. Suresh V. Nadagoudar, VC and Registrar of KSRDPR University; Jagdish, DGM of NABARD; R.M. Hegde , Chairman of TMS; and Anil Karanjkar, Secretary of ISSC, Pune.
The conference aimed to foster research and innovation in the cooperative sector, aligning with the theme “Co-operatives Build a Better World.” It served as a platform for cooperative leaders, researchers, and policymakers to exchange knowledge and share best practices.
The valedictory session on the second day featured Dr. Hema Yadav, Director of VAMNICOM, Pune, as the Chief Guest. The session included discussions on the conference theme and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Anil Karanjkar, Hon. Secretary of ISSC, Pune.
This two-day event successfully celebrated the spirit of cooperation and emphasized the importance of resilience and sustainability in cooperative business models.
