With a significant shortage of Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertiliser in Punjab, Nano DAP usage has surged, doubling to 3.25 lakh bottles in 2024 from 1.5 lakh last fiscal year, media reports quote IFFCO State Manager Harmail Singh Sidhu.
Promoted by IFFCO, Nano DAP requires just 500 ml per acre, compared to one or more 50 kg bags of granular DAP, offering cost savings and eco-benefits.
Despite a 30% DAP shortage during wheat sowing’s ideal window (November 1–15), farmers continue sowing.
Harmail Singh Sidhu of IFFCO highlighted Nano DAP’s affordability at ?600 per bottle, versus ?1,350 for traditional DAP. IFFCO targets over one million bottles annually.
