The government has expanded its subsidised pulses programme under the Bharat brand, adding chana whole and masur dal.
These pulses will now be available at Rs 58 and Rs 89 per kilogram, respectively, through cooperatives like NCCF, NAFED, and Kendriya Bhandar, according to Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi.
The Bharat brand, which already offers essential staples like rice and flour at affordable prices, aims to make basic commodities more accessible to the middle class.
NCCF and NAFED are key players in this initiative.
